Admission Criteria for B.Ed Program

Government of Karnataka has introduced online Admission since 2010. The process of Admission in Karnataka B.Ed., Colleges or Institutions is done through the Central Admission Cell, Department of Public Instruction. Government of Karnataka is handling the online admission of B.Ed., Programme offered by Education Colleges in Karnataka. Our college, ShankaraGowda College of Education is a Grant-In-Aid Institution having intake of one unit of 50 seats. The seat matrix is 38:12. Out of 50 seats 38 seats will be allotted by CAC of Government of Karnataka in the order of merit and preference of colleges given by the applicants and the remaining 12 seats will be filled by the Management in the order of merit.

Eligibility and Choice of Pedagogic Subjects

Candidates seeking admission to the B.Ed programme should be as prescribed by NCTE and UGC and State Government as listed below:

  • Candidates with at least 55% marks either in Bachelor’s Degree or the Master’s Degree in Science/Social Science/ Humanity, Bachelor in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent are eligible for admission to the programme.
  • The candidate should specify whether he desires to be aa.Teacher for 6-8 and 9-10 std eligibility orb.Teacher for 8-10 and 11-12 std eligibility (only for PG qualified)

Languages

English, Kannada.

Electives:

Biology, Mathematics, physics, chemistry, History, English, Kannada, and Commerce.

Eligibility Exception

All applicants shall have a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate of all the three years of Degree including electives and languages, excluding internal assessment marks, class examination marks and grace marks. But SC, ST, C-1 and physically handicapped candidates shall have a minimum of 45% of marks in aggregate of all the three years of Degree including electives and languages, excluding internal assessment marks, class examination and grace marks.
